The Association is the only professional Contractors Association in the province of Limassol and is a founding member of the Federation of Associations of Building Contractors Cyprus O.S.E.O.K. The first offices of the Association were housed near Limassol Street Market for many years, then transferred to Ipirou Street and finally at the corner of Gladstonos and Messolongiou up to today. Recently, the Association bought land, prepared architectural plans and submitted an application for planning permission to erect privately-owned premises.
The purpose of establishing the Association was to improve the profession and projection of the contractor and his role. One of the main problems faced by contractors was the lack of machinery which forced them to work hard and need a lot more labor. In the old days Cypriots Contractors employed many Turkish Cypriots with whom they maintained excellent relations. The buildings built at the time were usually detached. The main building materials used were mud bricks, stone and wooden roof with shingles. Then bricks, iron and concrete were used. The contractor had a key role in building process, rarely were the projects monitored by Architects / Engineers. Most of the time only the roof plate was supervised.
Historically, the Association has helped to ensure the occupation of a building contractor and improve the legal framework of the construction industry in Cyprus.

The present Board, continuing the path that drawn by previous Boards will continue to strengthen the foundations for a more professional and efficient mode of operation.
In cooperation and active involvement with the Federation of Associations of Building Contractors Cyprus (OSEOK) continuous efforts are made to promote the positions and interests of Cypriots Contractors with tangible results.
The integration into a United Europe creates a new environment with more demanding jobs. The competition has grown; the audits are becoming more stringent as are the increasing requirements for health and safety and quality of the finished product will. We must strive together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding so that the construction industry in Cyprus can become competitive with the broader context of United Europe.
The correct response to these new conditions is the continuous information, continuing education, modernization of equipment, financial credibility and our professional competence. These will be the new targets of every professional contractor and the only way to survive and grow in the new environment.
