FIEC:
• Represents at a European level the contractors - members of the organizations which are its members regardless of their size individual or small or businesses giants, regardless of the type of projects (building construction and civil engineering works) they undertake regardless of their capacity (either as main contractor or as subcontractors) in the contract
• With the European Commission's Communication COM (93) 600 -14/12/1993, was recognized as the main interlocutor of the Commission, the "sectoral social partner” in European Social Dialogue, by the entire European construction industry
• Participates in European Standards Committee (CEN), European Council on Research, Development & Modernization (ECCREDI), in the European Information Network (Euro-Info-Centre network) and the European Fora and Construction Services (ECF and ESF)
• Works on a regular basis with the International Organization of European Contractors (EUROPEAN INTERNATIONAL CONTRACTORS-EIC)
• Provides advice and guidance to its member Federations of economic, social, legal and technical issues related to the construction sector such as the "syndrome of abnormally low prices”, unfair competition, the selection of contractors for participation in processes procurement, the need to reduce tax rates in the construction sector, the issue of environmental responsibility of the contractor, undeclared work, health and safety, benefits and pensions etc. These issues occupy and will continue to occupy specific groups of European experts, whose findings are either taken over by the Community legislature, or were the basis for a uniform policy with long-term goal of solving this problem at European level.
